Definitions for Legend Terms

  • Average Decline: The estimated amount of decline across the district (feet).
  • County: The county lines for each county located within the district.
  • Depth of Water: The estimated depth of water from the surface to the water table.
  • Major Aquifers: Are aquifers that produce large amount of water over large areas.
  • Minor Aquifers: Are aquifer that produce minor amounts of water over large areas or large amounts of water over small areas.
  • Outcrop: Portion of a water-bearing rock unit exposed at the land surface.
  • District's Outline: The boundary of the district's area.
  • Saturated Thickness: The distance from the top of an aquifer to the base of the aquifer where the pore spaces are completely filled with water.
  • Section, Block & Survey: A public land survey system used to describe the location of a tract of land. A normal section is one square mile or 640 acres.
  • Subcrop: Portion of a water-bearing rock unit existing below other rock units.
  • Wells: The locations of all groundwater producing wells located within the district's area.
